Electronic Stethoscopes

Cardionics leaders in AuscultationEstablished in 1981 Cardionics designs and manufactures medical simulators, bedside auscultation systems, manikins, software designed for teaching and high quality electronic stethoscopes for hearing impaired, telemedicine and general clinical use.

P.M.S (Instruments) Ltd have been their official UK distributor since 2003.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Hearing deficiencies vary considerably from person to person.  Your audiologist is the best source of information on your particular hearing problem.  You should consult with your audiologist if you have any specific questions about the use of your hearing aid with the E-Scope Electronic Stethoscope or any similar device.

Which E-scope Electronic Stethoscope Is Right For Me?

For general clinical use and mild hearing loss or if you don't use a hearing aid, use the E-scope Clinic Model.

If you use a BTE or ITE hearing aid use the Belt Model Hearing Impaired E-scope, which comes with headphones and is available with different optional extras.

Cardionics E-scope Electronic Stethoscope Clinic Model. For General Clinical Use And Mild Hearing Loss.

The E-Scope clinic model utilises modern electronic circuitry to amplify heart, breath and Korotkoff sounds so they become much easier to hear. The sound is pure and clean. Compared to acoustic stethoscopes, murmurs and faint blows are much more distinguishable.

Escope stethoscope clinic modelThe E-Scope Clinic Model is suitable for use in general clinical medicine by medical professionals,  paramedics for ambulance use, isolation wards and Hazmat areas and cervical auscultation (speech pathology). It is primarily aimed at clinicians for general medical use and also those who have mild hearing loss.

Cardionics E-scope Belt Model For Severe Hearing Loss. May Be Used With In The Ear (ITE) And Behind The Ear (BTE) Aids.

Important note for BTE users. Not all hearing aids will allow the low frequencies of heart and breath sounds to be heard. Heart sounds frequencies range from 20-650Hz and lung sounds from 70-2000Hz. The first and second heart sounds have a frequency of approximately 70-100Hz.

Murmurs range from approximately 150-400Hz. Your hearing aid MUST be able to not only hear frequencies in the 100Hz area, but be able to reproduce them. You should discuss this with your audiologist prior to purchasing a hearing aid.

We maintain a list of hearing aids that have low frequency characteristics. Please contact us if you want to check the suitability of your hearing aid.

E-scope Belt Model Optional Direct Audio Input (DAI) Cable.

Euro connector for EscopeUse the Escope belt model together with a  cable for one ear or two ears which is connected from the E-Scope to the audio shoe of your hearing aid (not supplied). Your audiologist will have to supply the audio shoe.  The audio shoe snaps onto the hearing aid. The DAI cable is inserted into the audio shoe and is connected to the  “Sounds output” of the E-Scope.

E-scope Belt Model Optional Silhouette (Induction Coil), Single Or Double For BTE Hearing Aids.

Picture single silhouette cord EscopeDouble silhouette cord Escope

Use the Escope Belt model with a silhouette (induction coil) which can be connected to the E-Scope for one or both ears.  The silhouette has worked well in many situations with BTE hearing aids. The Silhouette is generally more powerful than a direct audio input. This is a small, flat plastic device that loops behind the ear between the BTE and the head and is worn only when using the stethoscope.  Turn the BTE to the “Telecoil” position when using the silhouette cord (induction coil).

E-scope Belt Model Optional  Large Over The Ear Headphones

We can supply a set of large headphones that cover the entire ear and the BTE hearing aid.  These have worked well in many Cardionics over the ear headphonescases and fold up for ease of carrying.

E-scope EMS Model

This E-scope model is designed for use in noisy environments and is well suited for EMS and Ambulance use. The aviation headphones cover the ear completely and block out as much noise as possible.  Soft breath sounds can be heard in a loud Cardionics EMS Escopeambulance.  The stethoscope cable is detachable from the headphones.

All the controls for volume breath sound and heart sound filters are on the head of the stethoscope as well as on the aviation-style headphones making it easy for the user to adjust the volume or filter.

Cardionics Simulscope Bedside Auscultation System and SAM Manikin

The SimulScope is an instrument for teaching auscultation at the bedside or in the classroom.  It is wireless so that students are not tied to the instructor when in the patient’s room and sets up in seconds.

The SimulScope system consists of a small, portable, battery-operated (or mains operated) infrared transmitter with low frequency stethoscope that is taken to the bedside. Each student and the instructor wear a HeartMan Infrared Headphone.

The Simulscope allows everyone to hear the same patient simultaneously. Crucially the instructor knows exactly what the student is hearing in real time. The SimulScope has a series of discrete filters that allow the accentuation or attenuation of eight different frequency bands. This permits the instructor to accentuate a grade 1 murmur, a faint AI blow or any other sound.  He/she can attenuate or accentuate other sounds or murmurs for purposes of teaching.  Sounds can be recorded at the bedside and played back through the SimulScope in the classroom, if desired.

It is much easier on the patient as there is only one stethoscope placed on him or her.  Because the instructor can teach all students simultaneously, a great deal of time is saved while on rounds.

With the Wireless HeartMan PC Receiver, sounds are sent simultaneously to a PC. The Wireless HeartMan PC Receiver is connected to the "microphone in" on the PC and receives the sound and displays it on the computer screen as a phonocardiogram enhancing the learning process.

The phonocardiogram is produced by the StethView Digital Recording System software.

Three versions of the SAM student Auscultation manikin are available. You can listen to SAM with your own stethoscope or for group learning with the Simulscope or Classroom Infrared Emitter. Depending on the model different heart, lung and breath sounds are available and they are presented at the correct anatomical locations. Two of the models also have a carotid pulse timed with the onset of Systole.
