The
Merlin is a single channel post event patient
activated miniature ECG Recorder ideal for
detecting rhythm abnormalities.
Merlin
software (3.6Mb) version 1.56
Many symptoms -
palpitations, dizziness, and light-headedness -
may not present when a patient is in the
Doctor's surgery or when a 12 lead ECG is
recorded. ECG event recording with the Merlin
can capture these symptoms when they appear and
establish if they are related to transient
arrhythmia’s or rhythm abnormalities.

The Merlin was independently
reviewed
by the NHS Purchasing And Supplies
Agency in 2009
and rated as "neat and discreet". Ref CEP09007 |
Since symptoms
may appear in any place, at any time, it is
important to have a recorder that is easily
activated, lightweight and unobtrusive.
|
This
miniature, wristwatch-style ECG event
recorder is activated by simply placing
a hand on the face of the watch. The
solid-state memory of Merlin can store
up to 15 minutes of ECG. Flexible
programming ensures that the patient is
not limited to a pre-set recording
length - the recorder can store long or
short strips to reflect the events.
Remnant memory capacity is displayed
after each recording. Recordings are
easily transmitted to the PC via an
optical cable or using a standard modem.
With normal use, Merlin is expected to
serve several months with the same
batteries. |
The
Merlin software is a 32-bit Windows application
with the controls you are familiar with from the
Windows desktop, or your word processor. In
fact, you may use the latter when you edit your
Merlin reports, as the software translates them
to rich text files (RTF), a format easily
handled by any up-to-date word processor. You
can easily send or receive Merlin recordings as
regular e-mail attachments. You can connect the
recorder directly to your PC with the standard
Meditech optical interface. Once the recorder is
connected, you can adjust recording parameters,
check the status of the recorder, transfer data
to your database, or start a real-time ECG
monitoring.
Key Features:-
- Displays
heart rate, date and time of ECG recording
as well as ECG.
- Special
baseline and filters improve quality of ECG
recording.
- Two long
life batteries permit recording for several
months.
- Minimal
running costs and discomfort to patient as
no disposable electrodes required.
- Real time on
screen monitoring feature allows patient to
practice using Merlin whilst connected to
PC.
