Many symptoms - palpitations, dizziness, and light-headedness - may not present when a patient is in the Doctor's surgery or when a 12 lead ECG is recorded. Since symptoms may appear in any place, at any time, it is important to have a recorder that is easily activated, lightweight and unobtrusive.

The Merlin software is a 32-bit Windows application with the controls you are familiar with from the Windows desktop, or your word processor. In fact, you may use the latter when you edit your Merlin reports, as the software translates them to rich text files (RTF), a format easily handled by any up-to-date word processor. You can easily send or receive Merlin recordings as regular e-mail attachments. You can connect the recorder directly to your PC with the standard Meditech optical interface. Once the recorder is connected, you can adjust recording parameters, check the status of the recorder, transfer data to your database, or start a real-time ECG monitoring.
