The pulse oximeter is a safe and simple medical device that that provides non-invasive and continuous information about the percentage of oxygen that is combined with haemoglobin. It detects and calculates the absorption of light by oxygenated blood to produce a measurement called SpO2, an estimate of oxygen saturation. A light source and a photo detector are contained within a probe for easy application usually.
